Hi Everyone

In Washington DC there is the John F Kennedy Centre for the Performing Arts. Every year people are honoured for their contributions to music, stage and screen. As the White House is only a ten minute bus ride away, the President and the First Lady are in attendance. The only exception is if the President has urgent business to deal with, but even then he will be represented by the First Lady. Nearly all, if not all of these occasions can be seen on YouTube and are glittering and pleasurable occasions. All went well for years until Trump became President. He decided that he and the First Lady would not attend "to allow the Honorees to celebrate without any political distraction". Rubbish, in my opinion, the man has not got an artistic or musical bone in his body and, of course, he would not be the centre of attention. I would like to bet that the other three members of the Fab Four, you know Putin, that funny little man from North Korea and Mr China have similar traits so let us hope that the next President can at least play at least play the penny whistle or better still, the harp. Now, apparently last month Trump replaced the thirteen board members of the Kennedy Centre and named himself as its new chair with pictures of himself and the First Lady together with that other chancer J D Vance and his wife on the walls. That puts him where he most likes to be, the centre of attention.

In 2013 the United Nations declared that the 20th of March should be the International Day of Happiness "as a fundamental goal" in people's lives around the world. It is likely to be one of the few times that the United Nations has agreed on anything except that Putin and the other members of the Fab Four may have abstained. Now as I am approaching middle age I cannot remember what we did last Thursday but I cannot remember seeing anyone creased with laughter. But then I do remember that we met up for a couple of hours with our daughter and grandson which confirmed that we are so fortunate to have many days of happiness with our family and friends.
Unfortunately, the day of happiness for many was quickly followed by a day of misery as Heathrow airport was shut down for 24 hours through an electrical failure resulting in disruption to hundreds of flights and thousands of passengers across the world. We do not yet know the full circumstances of the problem, but it is yet another example of the dangers we face when technology goes wrong and the temptation by our enemies to disrupt our lives without even firing a gun.
Just a Thought:
I have reached the age where my brain goes from " I probably shouldn't say that " to "What the hell, let's see what happens".
The only thing more important than your happiness is mine.
My friend threw a ball for his dog this week. He thought that it was a bit extravagant but he looked great in a dinner suit.
