Don't We All Need A Liberation Day

Hi Everyone

I suppose that nearly all of us have had Liberation Days along the way. After years of the "best time in your life", it was liberating to leave school and find that you were suddenly an adult in the adult world. As you might guess from reading this Rubbish, the next Liberation Day for me was leaving home to escape from the Senior Partner, although it is probably true to say that it was a liberating event for her too. Then, the move from the comparative safety of working for someone to the riskier move of working for myself was another liberating moment. The final Liberating Day and perhaps the one that we look forward to most is when I finally put fifty years of work behind me and retired. Now, Trump has had what he describes as his liberation day this week. in my case those days of change had little impact as they only affected my family and a few of the people I worked with.. By contrast, Trump's liberation day affects millions of people across the world. Of course, I understand that American industry has suffered from cheaper imports from across the world but that same effect has been felt here in the UK and in many other countries. We choose to forget that much of our past wealth, including America, was built on cheap labour and migration. On a bbc phone in programme one very articulate lady described Trump as "insane". I could not possibly say that as I know that he reads my blog but assuming that I survive my ultimate liberation day, I look forward to World Liberation Day in January 2029 when Trump disappears into a bush to search for his golf ball.

As well as all that, we are told that this year is awful April with energy bills rising again, community charge up, broadband up and with increased National insurance it all seems too much. But hang on they say, the State pension is up, the minimum wage is up, with our leaders telling us that the golden rainbow will be coming soon. This April, of course, is not awful at all as long as you don't listen to the news. The weather is dry, the sun is shining every day, projects are on target, and my packets of seeds will ensure fresh fruit and vegetables throughout the summer. The last time we had a glorious spring was five years ago, when we were all locked up due to COVID-19. Thankfully, we survived that so Trump and his pals can get on with it. We may all be poorer, but we will be fine.. Incidently, the Senior Partner was not keen on April Fools' day, which in the great scheme of things was entirely predictable.
I know that you will be keen to know how the project is doing, you know the one I told you about a couple of weeks ago. Our neighbour, who thought we were mad, promised to invite us round for a glass of wine when it was finished. Even though it is not yet complete, we accepted his offer this week and enjoyed a couple of hours in his garden. I have to admit that although he invited us for "a glass of wine" I actually had two. Maybe when we have finally completed our project, we can go around for two more.
Just a Thought:
Fight for the things you care about, but do it in a way that will lead others to join you.
My friend used to hate gardening, but then he turned over a new leaf.
How can you tell when April is happy? It has a little spring in its step.

Hi Brian,
I could not be more embarrassed to be an America that I am now.
How could the wealthiest, most powerful nation on the planet came up with the idea that we (Americans) are being ripped off? To claim unfair economics between our nation and the rest of the world is evidence of a deep sickness in our society. The greed and endless need for power by the 1% must stop, and I believe it will.
Yesterday I joined 40,000+ other souls in our state capital protesting Trump. I can tell you that the majority of Americans see Trump as a fraud and a clown. We see Musk as an out-of-control power hungry man. This, the ideals of MAGA…
